When you take things into consideration, it could be troublesome to choose one that could be named the best. If you want an AT-AT that is accurate to the movie version, you should buy the UCS AT-AT. The interior undoubtedly remains cramped and placing the minifigures inside can sometimes prove challenging. Nevertheless, this internal configuration represents an improvement upon earlier models and I am particularly pleased that the designer has still found enough room to incorporate basic controls which surround the minifigures. It does look good as a display piece and possesses quite a few playability features. The design, however, is honestly not good enough and could have been significantly improved. This set, however, has one or two positive features that we have to mention. The first one is the minifigure selection. Compared to the previous two versions which had 4 minifigures each, here there were 8 including C-3PO, Han Solo, and the less common General Veers. If you want a fairly nice design and a great minifigure selection, then the 2010 version is the best choice for you. However, if you are looking for a great design which is robust and will not break when you move it around, then the 2014 version is the perfect choice. Also, it will be the cheapest option out of all today.

The final product will not come apart unless you are really careless but the designers could have done a better job nevertheless. The Snowtroopers are the same as those introduced in the Action Battle sets, which is no bad thing as they now feature fancy leg printing. The helmet design has been around for a while, but needs no improvement. Army builders will be delighted to have two more of these cold-climate Stormies. The easiest way to describe this motorized version is a Technic set in an AT-AT shell. The build itself is impressive and fun but the final set is nothing special. The movement of the legs is also not the same as in the movies having that it moves with two legs at a time. The moving panel that provides access to the main body’s interior is great – it pulls out and then can be pushed up out of the way, allowing full access to the troop area no matter how big your fingers are. There are five seats inside, so anyone who has extra Snowtroopers can load it up. It’s probably better to have extra chairs than the trapdoor that was included in 75054 AT-AT.

The All Terrain Armored Transport (commonly known as the AT-AT Walker) was the largest and most heavily armored ground vehicle in the Imperial military. We saw them in the Original Trilogy (Battle of Hoth & briefly in Return of the Jedi), in Rogue One, and most commonly in the animated series Rebels. AT-ATs can deploy speeder bikes for reconnaissance missions and this model accordingly includes one speeder bike. The same feature appeared in 4483 AT-AT and the location of the speeder garage has remained consistent, inside the rearmost section of the body. Opening the surrounding panels reveals several unsightly Technic elements but permits easy removal of the speeder bike which is perfect for play. The second positive feature of this set was the movement capabilities. Unlike the previous two models, you could bend the legs in various different angles and also swing the head around. Although these features were present, it was still quite troublesome to change the posses without breaking it. The model looks absolutely outstanding based upon official images and its announcement provoked considerable excitement, particularly since this rendition of the AT-AT is larger than previous versions. Additionally, I think the new model appears exceptionally accurate and the interior detail has been significantly improved. Minifigures

For this set to be motorized, it meant a few positive and negative features. Of course, you got one of the most iconic Imperial vehicles in a motorized version. However, this feature meant a much less detailed exterior. The ascension cable can comfortably reach to the ground and retract inside the AT-AT so it remains completely hidden when not required. A hatch is conveniently positioned beside the cable too, allowing Luke to throw his thermal detonator inside! The simulated actuators which flank these functions match the original vehicle but the bright Technic elements on either side are disappointing. These stand out against the light bluish grey armour and are probably the weakest aspect of this entire set in my opinion. LEGO has produced five large-scale AT-AT models since 2003, varying quite significantly in appearance and construction. 75288 AT-AT looks particularly distinctive and features unique proportions, with an enlarged head and fewer dramatic angles across the troop compartment. The resultant vehicle appears authentic when compared with the movie and looks absolutely spectacular on display. Shortly after the motorized AT-AT Walker set from 2007 was retired in 2010, the LEGO community received a new regular version. It came cheaper than the previous model which is always rare for a re-designed set but it also has around 200 fewer parts. Compared to the original 2003 version, it does not stand even close in terms of authenticity. The set includes six minifigures with equipment: Luke Skywalker with a blue lightsaber, General Veers with binoculars, two AT-AT drivers with blasters and two Snowtroopers in white camouflage clothing. In the same way, as in the movie, key battle scenes can be re-enacted or new missions can be created. For example, Luke has a winch to pull himself up to the AT-AT's hull. In the belly is a fold-out floor hatch that young Skywalker can open to drop a thermal detonator into the AT-AT's interior. Playable Interior and Design Details

This version of the AT-AT Walker does not reinvent the build method for the vehicle. Instead, it adapts and improves a design that has worked well several times before. The basic shape of the All-Terrain Armoured Transport has been captured so well in the past that it would be ludicrous to try some completely new structural method at this point. The design really has been elevated this time around, though, with even some small improvements offering a much-enhanced model. Overall, this was a good set which received a fair amount of criticism for its price. After all, you got 200 less pieces for just about the same price. It did have a decent minifigure selection which apparently was not good enough for the LEGO community. A winch is included towards the front of the body, which allows Luke Skywalker to be raised beneath the AT-AT, as if he is grappling up to hurl in a thermal detonator. It’s much better than the way this was portrayed in 8129 AT-AT Walker and makes for a well-executed, relevant play feature. There’s even a gap to represent where he slashed with his lightsaber to make a hole for the bomb. Furthermore, this rendition of the AT-AT is larger than its predecessors, measuring 38cm in length and 35cm in height. 75054 AT-AT, by comparison, measures 34cm in length while its height is similar, reaching 34cm. These differences seem relatively minor but the new model also maintains a more consistent width throughout the length of the troop compartment. This whole vehicle therefore seems more substantial than past examples. Building this Star Wars icon is thoroughly enjoyable – thanks to the variety offered by the different sections, it never gets dull. While the legs are repetitive, they don’t take long to build so don’t end up feeling like a chore.In terms of the build, it is not as boring as you would expect having the four identical legs. Unfortunately, it is not as sturdy as I wish it could be. During the build, some sections fall apart when you attach them to the base.
