About this deal

Nextbase have reserved many of their best features for the 622GW which was announced later than the other devices in the Series 2 Dashcam range and only went on sale in 2020. Nextbase describe it as a "dash cam solution for new or experienced motorists who want instant upload capabilities to social media, or their insurer. Market leading thanks to its connective capabilities and ease of use, this new dawn for dash cams simply reinforces Nextbase's position as the most popular dash cam brand in the UK". It boasts many features such as GPS logging, WiFi, Smartphone Apps, a 2.7" LCD screen, G-sensor and 1080p recording. We’ll start by looking at a comparison table of the main features and then review each one below. Series 2 Comparison Chart Next in the series 2 range is the 422GW. This dashcam doesn’t have a huge number of upgrades compared to the 322GW, however the one that does stand out is the camera quality. For the camera nerds, the 422GW has a better lens which has an f/1.3 aperture as opposed to f/1.6. Essentially, this means that more light enters the camera. That extra adjustment does have a big impact on the quality, especially under darker lighting.

If the dash cam does not appear as a drive on your PC, please press the reset button on the underside of your dash cam and try all the USB ports on your computer. Unlike the 222, the 322GW is compatible with the add-on modules, including the rear camera, rear window camera and the cabin view camera.

On the Dash Cam's screen you'll see a menu of 3 options. Please select 'Mass Storage' on the Dash Cam screen and then OK so that only that displays on the screen. If the Dash Cam does not appear as a drive on your PC, please press the reset button on the underside of your Dash Cam and try all the USB ports on your computer. The 622GW is the only dashcam in the range to feature a resolution of 4k, this allows for really crisp videos and you’ll be able to identify signs, faces and reg plates with ease. Another upgrade you’ll find in the 622GW that wasn’t features in the 522GW is digital image stabilization, this works much like it does on high end DSLR cameras to digitally make videos smoother and iron out the bumps.

Plug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the dash cam and NOT via the mount. It also has intelligent parking mode that will monitor your vehicle when not in use and record any movements it detects. We recommend the official Nextbase hardwire kit for this to prevent your battery from draining. Below are links to step by step instructions about how to update the firmware on your Nextbase Dash Cam. The Firmware Update Guides contain instructions for both Windows users as well as Mac users. Select the Dash Cam you have and wish to upgrade If the Dash Cam does not appear as a drive on your PC, please press the reset button on the underside of your Dash Cfam and try all the USB ports on your computer.

How To Setup WiFi on a Nextbase Dash Cam

The GPS allows you to see where the footage was filmed which can be seen side by side with the footage itself, it also records speed which could help in any accidents or insurance claims. The addition of Bluetooth means the 322GW also has emergency response features. In case of an emergency, the camera can alert the emergency services and provide them with your location and other relevant details. There are safeguards in place to prevent accidental calls.

The internal hardware and software are where you’ll find the major differences as it’s the first in the series that features WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity, that’s where the GW comes from. This allows you to connect the 322GW to the MyNextbase Connect app and view your dashcam footage on your mobile phone. By comparison, the 222 dashcam requires you to take out the SD card and insert it into a laptop or PC. We tested the dashcam individually over a period of time and as part of a group test so we really put it through its paces. We followed the manufacturers'recommendations when setting up the dashcam. We tested it in both daytime and nighttime. Plug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the Dash Cam and NOT via the mount. Lithium-ion 3.7V / 450mAh (approx. 30mins recording time) Battery design allows the 'Auto Power Off' feature to function in event of power loss within the vehicle. It is not intended as an alternative power source to replace the supplied car adaptor. The series 2 range of dashcams is the second generation of devices from Nextbase that were launched throughout 2019 and 2020.

The built-in G-sensor will allow the Dashcam to record any impacts or sudden course changes and the footage is automatically protected on the memory card. The built-in GPS allows for the vehicle's exact position and route to be recorded and a date and time stamp is also included in the recording to prevent any potential dispute in the event of an incident. However, you don't just have to rely on the G-sensor, you can also press a nice red button on the Dashcam to manually create a permanently saved event in a situation where something has happened in front of you. Only negative we can really find is the video at night isn't the best from the selection that we've tested, it glares a bit with light however it's by no means poor and is common across them all - see our video. The range has been simplified slightly from the previous generation which offered WiFi and non-WiFi versions of the camera. In series 2, every device from the 322 upwards has both WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth.
